Capstone Project
For my Global Studies Capstone Project, I am focusing on mass incarceration in US prisons. The Criminal Justice system that is in place today is overcrowded, fails to focus on rehabilitation, and produces one of the highest recidivism rates in all of the world. I am analyzing what is wrong with the criminal justice system through interviews, documentaries, presentations, readings, ETC. This project will hopefully permit me to later inform others on the important topic.
What I want to focus on
- Common paths to imprisonment and how society sets it's former convicts up to failure.
- Life after prison
- Stigmas and recurring issues in prison.
My goals for this project
- Exchange prior outdated knowledge of prison-life with updated information.
- Be able to inform about an important yet underwhelming topic.
-Disprove stigmas and present possible solutions for issues within the system
How I gathered research
Conducting and analyzing personal interviews with persons involved with experts from the criminal justice system.
I will utilize films and documentaries to gain real life information about prisoners and the lives they live in prison.
Scholarly articles and books that pertain to my topic and will provide me with not only accurate, but interesting information.
